Hanabi: Master Artisan Expansion

About this expansion

Hanabi: Master Artisan Expansion is a cooperative expansion for 2–5 players that adds six bonus tokens to Hanabi, with games lasting about 30 minutes.

Shuffle the bonus tokens face down and place them near the clue tokens. Whenever players correctly play the fifth card of a color, flip a bonus token instead of flipping a clue token, then resolve its special action immediately.

The actions are carried out by the fireworks master—the oldest player under the ABACUSSPIELE rules. Each token can create a valuable opportunity while the group works together to complete the fireworks.

• Flip a clue token that has already been used, as in the base game. This action appears twice.
• Choose a card from the discard pile and shuffle it back into the draw pile. This action also appears twice.
• Choose another player and tell that player both the color and value of a card in their hand without using a clue token.
• Flip up to two unused thunderstorm or fuse tokens, then flip an equal number of used clue tokens.

These bonus effects give correctly playing a fifth card an immediate consequence beyond the normal clue-token procedure. Because every action must be resolved at once, players must be ready to use the opportunity as soon as it appears.

The standard expansion adds six bonus tokens to the Hanabi card game. The deluxe version adds six bonus tiles to the Hanabi Deluxe base game, while Hanabi Deluxe II already includes all six tiles from the Master Artisan Expansion.

With its compact set of special actions, Hanabi: Master Artisan Expansion offers additional ways to recover resources, gain information, and manage the risks of a shared fireworks display.
