About this board game

High Frontier 4 All is a modular space exploration and exploitation board game for 1–5 players, with a playing time of about 240 minutes. Released in 2020, it presents an expansive vision of humanity’s future among the worlds orbiting Sol.

At the heart of the game is its iconic delta-v map, offering a different perspective on the accessibility of the solar system. The map is described as the most comprehensive published map of the solar system, while the cards and map were expanded in consultation with experts in the field.

The Core Game is equivalent to the previous edition’s basic and advanced rules and includes Module 0: Politics. The system is designed to be updated and expanded over time, making High Frontier 4 All an open-ended framework for enthusiasts as well as a complete game in its own right.

  • Space Diamonds: a beginner’s game accessible to bright children.
  • Race for Glory: an introductory scenario that includes a playthrough.
  • Solo and cooperative variants: multiple ways to play without a fully competitive table.

The game’s origins reach back to Rocket Flight in 1999, whose vision was to have each player begin as a spacefaring company seeking profit through trade and technology development. That ambition has grown into a detailed and accessible simulation of space exploration, shaped in part by designer Phil Eklund’s background as a former rocket scientist.

Transition rules also allow High Frontier 4 All to serve as an independent fourth stage in the Bios: Earth trilogy: Bios: Genesis, Bios: Megafauna, and BIOS: Origins.
