About this board game

Imperial Settlers: Empires of the North is a standalone card game for 1–4 players, with games lasting about 90 minutes. Set in the far north, it places you in command of a Scottish, Inuit, or Viking clan seeking to build the greatest empire.

Six pre-constructed Clan decks are included, with two decks for each faction. Each Clan offers a different approach to the game, focusing on distinct mechanics and featuring a varied difficulty level from 1 to 10, so every deck brings its own style of play.

Over a series of rounds, develop your economy and expand your influence. Explore new lands, construct buildings, trade resources, and sail to distant shores, where you can choose to conquer or pillage for valuable goods. Deflect your opponents and make every action bring your clan closer to becoming the greatest empire.

Each round follows four phases, creating a clear rhythm for your plans:

  • Lookout: prepare for the round ahead.
  • Action: develop your clan and pursue your objectives.
  • Expedition: sail to new lands to conquer or pillage.
  • Cleanup: complete the round and prepare for the next.

The game continues until a player reaches or passes 25 Victory Points during the Action phase. That achievement triggers the final round, after which the player with the strongest empire can claim dominance in the north.

With its faction-specific Clan decks and distinctive take on the established Imperial Settlers universe, Imperial Settlers: Empires of the North offers a unique style of card-driven empire building.
