About this board game

Island Siege is a fast-playing two-player game of fort-building and colonization in the Caribbean Sea, with sessions lasting about 45 minutes. Released in 2013, it challenges players to build shoreside forts, protect colonists, and score enough coins to achieve victory.

Forts are central to your plans. They defend your colonists from attack and provide the means to put more colonists into play. Once safely in play, colonists can build ships and buildings, opening access to abilities and additional points.

Attacking gives Island Siege a direct competitive edge. By striking at an opponent’s fort, you can chip away at its defenses while gaining cubes. Those cubes are then used to build forts of your own, linking successful attacks to your growing position.

  • Build: Construct shoreside forts and use cubes to expand your defenses.
  • Colonize: Put colonists into play, then use them to safely build ships and buildings.
  • Attack: Damage an opponent’s fort while gaining cubes for your own construction.
  • Score: Gain coins through your forts, ships, and buildings as you work toward the winning condition.

Your goal is to score 20 coins or get all of your colonists in play. These two victory routes give each turn a clear purpose: strengthen your shoreside defenses, develop your available pieces, and decide when attacking is worth the risk.

With its focused two-player format and quick playing time, Island Siege presents a compact contest over forts, colonists, and Caribbean expansion. Build carefully, attack at the right moment, and pursue the victory condition that best fits your position.
