About this board game

Kero is a fast, real-time board game for 2 players, lasting about 30 minutes, set in a hostile future where kerosene is scarce and rival clans compete for survival.

In June 2471, each player leads a clan with a camp, a tanker truck, and seven Explorers. You must gather resources, improve your camp, and send Explorers into New Territories while carefully managing the KERO in your tanker truck. Local Tuareks may also provide valuable help.

Each turn combines tactical choices, chance, and time pressure. Choose your dice, tip your tanker truck, and roll as many times as you want within the available time. Keep useful results, avoid fire, and stop when you are satisfied—but once the truck is placed flat, you cannot tip it up again.

As your opponent rolls, you hold your own tanker truck to gain time for your sandtimer. This creates an interactive race in which both players are constantly involved. If your tanker runs out of KERO, you lose your turn, so every roll and refueling decision matters.

  1. Fuel up with KERO if necessary.
  2. Choose your dice and roll them.
  3. Collect resources, take cards, acquire Tuarek tiles, and send Explorers to New Territories.
  4. Resolve Fire and discard any cards burned by the roll.
  5. At the end of a round, claim Territories where you have a majority.

The game lasts three rounds, with each round ending when a Claim card appears. Players score the points on their cards and Territories, so using fuel wisely is just as important as collecting resources.

With colorful art, an unusual barren-world setting, and two 6-inch tanker-timers, Kero delivers light, tactical, fast-and-furious play that balances strategy and chance.
