King of Tokyo: Promo Cards

King of Tokyo: Promo Cards is an 11-card addition for the King of Tokyo base game, designed for 2–6 players and games lasting about 30 minutes. Released in 2011, this promo set adds more variety from one game to the next.

The cards are simply shuffled into the cards from the base game. Once included, they become part of the wider card pool, giving repeated plays a little more variation without changing the basic way the set is added to the game.

The availability of the set has varied by language and event. French versions of the cards were made available individually through several outlets, while the English cards were packaged as a set for distribution through local tournament play and conventions.

In 2011, nine of the eleven French cards were available directly from IELLO through its Japan aid operation. The Unstable DNA and Thunder Stomp cards were already out of stock before that operation began.

English and French sets of all 11 promo cards were printed again in May 2013 as a reward for contestants in official King of Tokyo tournaments. As part of the King of Tokyo series, this set is a compact way to add extra card variety to the base game.
