King’s Forge is a dice-management crafting game for 2–4 players, playable in about 60 minutes. In this 2014 game, you take the role of a skilled craftsman or craftswoman competing to become the King’s favorite.

The Chamberlain is searching the realm for a new Craftmaster to the King. To earn the honor of First Among Crafters and Smiths, you must be the first player to forge four items from a list of the King’s favorite weapons and trinkets.

A variety of dice represent the raw materials needed for your work. These dice can be used to gather new dice, purchase roll-modifiers, or saved for an attempt to meet the requirements for crafting an item. Careful management of your available materials is essential, since every die can contribute to your plans in more than one way.

• Resource dice: Work with metal, wood, gems, and enchantment.
• Crafting goals: Attempt to forge four items from the King’s list.
• Competitive play: Outmaneuver and out-build the other crafters at every opportunity.
• Risk and planning: Balance advance preparation with the luck of the dice.

An early lead does not guarantee victory. Rivals can change the contest by gathering new resources, acquiring roll-modifiers, and pursuing their own crafting plans. You will need to watch the competition while deciding when to build your supply and when to make a crucial crafting attempt.
