Mega Empires

About this board game

Mega Empires is a modular empire-building strategy game for 3–18 players, with an epic play time of up to 900 minutes. Players guide historic empires through expansion, trade, cultural development, conflict, and the disasters that test their civilizations.

Each empire begins with a single population token. As the game progresses, populations spread across the map, establish cities, and compete for valuable territory. Cities generate wealth in the form of trade cards, with larger urban networks providing greater access to commodities—and the occasional devastating calamity.

Trading is at the heart of the experience. Players negotiate and exchange cards in interactive trading sessions, trying to assemble valuable sets while secretly passing calamities among one another. Once trading ends, any calamities still held must be resolved, creating tension even during apparently profitable deals.

The civilization system gives every purchase lasting importance. Each advance provides a benefit and discounts later advances, allowing players to build a tailored development strategy while pursuing victory points.

The West and The East can be played separately or combined for games of up to 18 players, while The Far East pair offers additional standalone and combined options. With its scalable player count and shorter-game scenario, Mega Empires can accommodate both smaller groups and exceptionally large gatherings.

Victory goes to the empire that develops its position most effectively, manages relationships, withstands calamities, and gathers the most points. The result is a sweeping, highly interactive experience of population, commerce, knowledge, culture, and resilience.
