About this expansion

Memoir ’44: The Vercors Campaign is a two-player campaign game with an average play time of 40 minutes, released in 2009. It presents five linked scenarios set on the Vercors Plateau during the summer of 1944.

West of the Dauphiné Alps, the Vercors Plateau rises 3,000 feet and forms a natural fortress with limited access to the outside world. After German and Italian armies invaded France’s Zone Libre, elements of the disbanded Army of the Armistice found the plateau an ideal base for continuing to harass the German occupier and the French Milice.

In this campaign, players follow the Maquisards of the French Resistance as they fight against overwhelming SS forces. The five scenarios, created by Jacques David, highlight the resistance fighters’ struggle across the Vercors Plateau and bring this distinct historical setting to the Memoir ’44 system.

  • Players: 2
  • Play time: approximately 40 minutes
  • Campaign length: five scenarios
  • Setting: the Vercors Plateau in the summer of 1944

Rather than treating every battle as an isolated contest, Memoir ’44: The Vercors Campaign connects the scenarios into a single unfolding campaign. Victory is earned over multiple battles, with the outcome of each scenario determining the circumstances of the next.

That structure gives each engagement a place within the wider campaign, making the result of one battle important beyond its own conclusion. For players interested in the French Resistance, the Vercors setting, and connected historical scenarios, this campaign offers five focused battles shaped by the changing course of the conflict.
