About this board game

Nexum Galaxy is a science-fiction strategy game for 1–4 players, with games lasting about 55 minutes. With no chance or event system in its base game, every decision rests on resource management, positioning, and reading your rivals.

Each player commands one of four civilization groups: the Collective Gnomicon, Psychon, Clonix, or Bionts. Your faction begins with four ships and three energy units on its home planet, or Tann, connected to the wider galaxy through a Tannhäuser Gate.

The galaxy is assembled from planetary systems, creating a different combination of locations from game to game. Every participating player adds an initial system, a large system containing three large planets and a Technological Relic, and a small system with planets of three different sizes and another Relic.

  • Management: gain energy from the Astros you control and spend it to create ships.
  • Navigation: move across the galaxy, conquer Astros, and claim energy according to a star’s size.
  • Combat: resolve conflicts through ship majority, with sacrifices determined by the defense.
  • Relics: occupy, transport, and combine their special properties to pursue victory.

Stars have their own limits and special rules for appropriation, defense, and destruction, while the distance between systems affects movement costs. The turn structure changes according to the number of players, using the corresponding mini-board and one or two phases of play.

In Nexum Galaxy, a victory can come from winning the required number of fights or controlling the required number of Technological Relics. Its simple rules and minimal components support a medium-low difficulty, while the possibility of a late reversal keeps the struggle for the NEXUM open until the end.
