About this board game
Nuevo Mundo is a turn-based strategy game for 2 to 5 players, played in approximately 90 minutes. Set in an imaginary area of the Gulf of Mexico and the Caribbean, it casts each player as the commander of a colonizing expedition sponsored by a European imperial power.
The objective is to gain land, wealth, and discoveries through territorial expansion and the settlement of key positions. By building strategic positions and extending their influence, players earn imperial credit that provides the resources and favors needed to pursue their mission.
Movement is shaped by dice rolls that represent events affecting how expeditions travel across the scenario. When disputes become conflicts, combat uses a rock-paper-scissors-style system supported by an original criptex piece, giving confrontations a distinct tactical character.
- Territorial dispute: Compete for positions and expand your influence across the scenario.
- Event-driven movement: Roll dice to resolve events that modify movement.
- RPS combat: Resolve battles with a rock-paper-scissors mechanic and the game’s original criptex piece.
- Set collection: Score by collecting cards depicting goods and discoveries.
Nuevo Mundo balances open competition with political flexibility. Courtesy and peace can be as valuable as warfare and treason, allowing the contest for imperial recognition to unfold through both cooperation and confrontation.
With its combination of exploration-themed scenarios, influence-building, dice-driven events, distinctive combat, and card collection, Nuevo Mundo presents a focused strategy experience for groups of two to five players.
