About this board game

Nut Hunt is a fast-paced squirrel placement game for 1–5 players, with games taking about 30 minutes. Set in a forest contested by squirrels and a wily fox, it challenges players to build nests, complete objectives, and score the most points.

Every turn begins with one mandatory action: Move the Fox. The fox scatters squirrels across the board while also causing nut foraging, creating opportunities for clever placement and changing the shape of the forest. Players can position their critters so scattering sends them toward favorable territories, or interfere with the fox to disrupt an opponent’s plans.

After moving the fox, choose one optional action. The available choices keep turns fast and intuitive while giving players different ways to pursue their objectives:

• Recruit a Squirrel
• Hassle the Fox
• Scout an Objective

When three squirrels come together, they form a nest. The game ends as soon as a player places their fourth nest, so every placement matters as the end approaches. Points are scored according to completed objectives, and the player with the most points wins.

Nut Hunt combines mandatory fox movement with optional actions, squirrel scattering, nest building, and objective-based scoring. Whether you use the fox to advance your own plans or hassle it to foil your opponents, the 2023 game keeps the forest in motion from turn to turn.
