About this expansion
Planet Unknown: Supermoon is an expansion for 1–6 players that adds a new layer of tile placement, resource management, and meteorite cleanup to games lasting about 80 minutes.
Meteor strikes have damaged the planet, leaving wreckage that must be used carefully. Players still work toward completing the primary objective and building a planet capable of preserving humanity, but Supermoon introduces another place to develop: a moon that can extend each player’s puzzle.
During play, choose whether to place your tile on your planet or on your moon. The moon includes a 3D satellite miniature that helps clear meteorites in a unique way, and players may also choose to deploy a rover there. Managing tile selection, placement, and meteorite cleanup becomes central to mastering the expanded challenge.
- Supermoon superpuzzle: Decide where each tile belongs while using the satellite and potentially a rover on the moon.
- Salvage tiles: Each player receives split polyomino tiles salvaged from meteor showers, with one resource and one meteorite on every tile.
- Flexible salvage choices: Instead of drafting from the S.U.S.A.N., place any two of your salvage tiles, either together or separately.
- New content: Add a new planet and corporation, then mix and match them for further asymmetric pairings.
The expansion adds roughly five simultaneous turns, extending the experience from approximately 65 minutes to around 80 minutes. This extra time creates room for new strategies while challenging familiar assumptions about how to maintain a winning edge.
Combining polyomino tile-laying, engine-building, simultaneous play, and resource and rover management, Planet Unknown: Supermoon expands the original system with fresh decisions and a distinctive moon-based development puzzle.
