About this board game

Plunderbund is a strategy game for 2–5 players, with play sessions of about 150 minutes, in which each player leads a guild competing for control of the Sprawl’s illegal-goods market.

Build your reputation by selling black-market goods, recruiting a network of agents and racketeers, and causing trouble for rival guilds. Set in a world combining the corruption and profiteering of prohibition Chicago with the lawlessness of the fantasy city known as the Sprawl, the game puts thieving, sorcery, money laundering, and bribery at the heart of business.

A light deck-building mechanic lets you improve your goods, add useful agents and racketeers, disrupt rival operations, or simply wreak havoc. Cards enter your deck through a straightforward snake draft from a limited selection of more than twenty different recruits, forcing you to decide where your finite resources will have the greatest effect.

Success depends on a sophisticated yet accessible supply-and-demand system. Sell your goods to merchants, respond to the famously picky Sprawl consumer, and build the reputation that earns victory points. Your choices must balance immediate opportunities with the long-term strength of your operation.

• Manage favors while building your guild without gold in your coffers.

At the end of the game, guilds are compared on the strength of their agent networks, their number of racketeers, and the quality of their black-market goods. In Plunderbund, growth comes with obligations: fail to repay your favors, and your hard-earned reputation will be diminished.
