About this expansion
Power Grid: Australia & Indian Subcontinent is a pair of Power Grid expansions for 2–6 players, with games lasting about 120 minutes.
This release adds two distinct maps, each introducing new conditions that change how players build and manage their networks. Australia and the Indian Subcontinent offer different challenges for experienced Power Grid players.
- Australia: The country does not have one connected power network. Several cities are linked mainly in the populated southeast, while connections to any city are possible at a generally higher cost.
- Indian Subcontinent: Expanding too quickly can lead to huge power outages, and players must purchase resources from a limited market that may not have enough for everyone.
Australia also brings a new element to power production. The country does not use uranium to produce power, but it mines large amounts of uranium to sell to other countries, creating a different relationship with this resource.
On the Indian Subcontinent, the resource market adds uncertainty to every purchase. Because supplies are limited and may not meet all players’ needs, network growth must be considered alongside the availability of resources.
With its contrasting settings and rules, Power Grid: Australia & Indian Subcontinent provides two ways to revisit the central Power Grid experience. The 2013 release is designed for players who want fresh conditions and new strategic pressures across familiar game systems.
