About this expansion
Power Grid: Québec/Baden-Württemberg is a board game for 2–6 players with an approximately 120-minute play time, featuring two regional maps with distinct rules and challenges.
The Québec map highlights the province’s emphasis on energy production through ecological hydro power plants. Once an ecological power plant enters the power plant market, it will not be placed at the bottom of the deck even if it is the highest-numbered plant. Instead, the highest non-green plant is placed on the bottom.
Québec also features Montreal and Québec City, where several inexpensive connections create a challenging network-building environment. Players must weigh multiple layers of decisions while building their best networks across the map.
On the Baden-Württemberg map, the game’s round structure changes. Players first buy power plants and then rearrange the player order. Because the province is small, several transregional locations can only be connected once Phase 2 begins.
- Québec: ecological hydro power receives special treatment in the power plant deck.
- Baden-Württemberg: power plant purchases come before player-order adjustments.
- Both maps: offer regional rules that change how networks are developed.
Power Grid: Québec/Baden-Württemberg combines two maps that were previously released separately. Québec originally appeared in Mégawatts, the French edition from Filosofia, while Baden-Württemberg was included in Funkenschlag: EnBW, a German edition from EnBW.
This edition received a single printing, although the Québec map remains available in Mégawatts. Together, the maps provide two different settings for players seeking varied Power Grid network-building challenges.
