About this expansion

Power Grid: Bremen/Manhattan is a pair of expansion maps for Power Grid, supporting 2–6 players in games that last about 120 minutes. Released in 2024, this set brings two distinct power-company challenges to the table.

In Bremen, the fight to gain customers is particularly tough and fast. Nuclear power plants are not used to supply electricity there, making resources scarcer. Instead of classic connections between cities, Bremen uses flat district costs. Several districts are also so small that they allow only two network spaces; once those spaces are occupied, further competition is not possible.

Manhattan presents a different kind of pressure. The city has a huge demand for electric power, but limited space for the networks needed to serve it. Power companies therefore compete continuously for the cheapest building costs across the whole of Manhattan.

  • Bremen: Fast competition, no nuclear power plants, scarce resources, flat district costs, and districts with limited network space.
  • Manhattan: One enormous area, high power demand, restricted network space, and constant competition over building costs.

Manhattan also changes the usual progression of play: this map uses only Step 1 from the beginning through the end of the game. Together, the two maps in Power Grid: Bremen/Manhattan focus the contest on different forms of scarcity—resources in Bremen and available space in Manhattan.
