About this expansion

Quantum: The Void is a 2013 board game for 2–4 players with a 30-minute play time, focused on studying the mysteries found between planets.

The empty space of the cosmos contains abundant quantum anomalies, making the void a rewarding place for research. Study in this region is connected to more frequent breakthroughs, giving the void a distinct role in the game.

At the start of your turn, check the void map tile and count your ship dice there. For each of your ship dice on that tile, you gain +1 research. This research is gained automatically at the beginning of your turn.

  • Gain +1 research for each of your ship dice on the void map tile.
  • Void research does not use any actions.
  • Void research does not use any special ability uses.
  • Ships that provide void research can still move and use special abilities normally during that turn.

This rule makes positioning ships in the void especially significant. Ships stationed there contribute research at the start of the turn while retaining their usual freedom to move and use their special abilities.

Because the bonus does not consume actions or special ability uses, the void offers research without limiting the rest of your turn. Quantum: The Void presents a focused cosmic setting where ship placement and the timing of research gains matter.
