About this expansion

Revolver: Elias Hooker Promo Card is a 2011 two-player game with an approximately 45-minute play time, centered on the extraordinary history of Elias Hooker.

Hooker’s story began with a bitter Poker dispute in an Oklahoma saloon. He was later arrested for the murder of Gus Armstrong, a crime committed during what was described as the most ferocious thunderstorm anybody could recall.

On April 19, 1885, a vigilante mob of more than 150 men stormed the jail and dragged out Elias, Jim Evans, Jesse Miller, and D.B. Nott. The four prisoners were hanged in an abandoned barn behind the jail, but Elias survived after being cut down minutes after his short-drop attempted execution.

Deputy ‘Clay’ Beckwith and ten lawmen broke up the vigilante gathering. Thirty men were arrested that moon-lit April night, although the records do not say whether the other prisoners survived. After Elias was taken to Surgeon’s Hall, the authorities reprieved him and commuted his sentence to four years’ transportation.

  • Setting: Oklahoma and Repentance Springs in the American West
  • Central figure: Elias Hooker, a condemned prisoner who survives execution
  • Key transformation: from transported convict to a changed man wearing a badge
  • Historical moment: Elias rides with Ned McReady when Jack Colty rains bullets about town

During his sentence, Elias turned to the teachings of the Good Book for guidance. He returned to Repentance Springs a changed man, where his gunfighting and horse-handling skills attracted the attention of Ned McReady.

McReady gave Elias a badge, and when Jack Colty attacked the town, Elias was among the first to ride with Ned. Revolver: Elias Hooker Promo Card presents a memorable tale of survival, repentance, and a second chance in the Old West.
