About this expansion
Croisades is a medieval strategy, skirmish, and roleplaying game for 2–7 players, with games lasting around 180 minutes. Originally a re-edition of Outremer, it greatly expands that earlier design with additional rules and two entirely new ways to play.
At its strategic level, players move armies across a map of Palestine. The identity or strength of these forces is not always known, creating uncertainty before conflicts are resolved. Battles and sieges then move to the detailed boards of the Cry Havoc system, combining a broader campaign with tactical encounters.
The included roleplaying system offers a different kind of experience. Create a crusader or Saracen character, begin with a small castle, and attempt to survive and prosper through fighting, negotiation, or marriage. Roleplaying battles use Cry Havoc and Siege, while additional rules introduce hit points and attributes such as diplomacy, honor, and charms.
- Create and develop a crusader or Saracen character.
- Advance members of your troops through experience, from humble peasant to capable sergeant.
- Rise further through the ranks, with the possibility of being appointed a knight.
- Use combat, negotiation, and marriage to navigate a dangerous era.
This substantial expansion gives Croisades the flavor of Cry Havoc skirmish battles while also supporting a grand strategic game and character-driven campaign play. To play the strategic game, you require Cry Havoc, Siege, Le Château des Templiers, and La Cité médiévale fortifiée. Croisades is part of the Cry Havoc series.
