About this expansion

Small World: Tunnels is a free mini-expansion for 2-6 players that lets you use Small World and Small World Underground at the same time, with an 80-minute play time.

Debuting at Spiel 2011 in October, this expansion adds a dozen cavern markers that serve as tunnel entrances between the two game boards. Six entrances, numbered 1-6, point down from Small World to Underground, while six matching entrances point up to mark the corresponding exits.

These numbered markers create a shared connection between the two versions of the game. Players can compete across both boards, bringing Small World and Small World Underground together in one larger experience.

  • A dozen cavern markers representing tunnel entrances and exits
  • Six numbered routes from Small World to Underground
  • Six corresponding numbered exits leading back up
  • Support for up to six players

The rulebook explains how to arrange the two game boards for different player counts. It also details which terrain types are equivalent, helping players prepare the combined play area according to the number of people taking part.

Small World: Tunnels was initially offered as a free mini-expansion and was planned for release through game stores in Europe and the United States. Its pieces can also be found in the Small World: Realms expansion, making that product another source for the tunnel components.
