About this expansion

Star Trek: Ascendancy – Borg Assimilation is a 2017 addition for 1–5 players that introduces the Borg as an independent menace to the Star Trek: Ascendancy game.

The Borg bring a dangerous new threat to the Galaxy. They attack players’ ships and assimilate civilized worlds, steadily expanding the consequences of leaving them unchecked. If the Borg are not dealt with, they could overwhelm the Galaxy.

The arrival of this menace challenges the great civilizations to look beyond their existing rivalries. Players must consider whether they can put aside their differences long enough to face the Borg as a united front, or whether each civilization will attempt to combat the onslaught on its own.

  • An independent Borg threat added to Star Trek: Ascendancy
  • Borg attacks against players’ ships
  • Assimilation of civilized worlds
  • A choice between united resistance and individual action
  • Potential access to Borg technology for civilizations that combat the threat

That final choice adds tension to the struggle. Cooperation may be needed to prevent the Borg from overwhelming the Galaxy, yet civilizations may also seek to seize Borg technology for themselves. The threat therefore creates a conflict between setting aside rivalries and pursuing individual advantage.

Star Trek: Ascendancy – Borg Assimilation puts the Borg at the center of a growing crisis, asking whether the Galaxy’s great civilizations can respond together before their ships and worlds fall to assimilation.
