About this expansion

Age of Steam Expansion: America / Europe is a two-map railroad strategy expansion for 3–6 players, with games lasting about 120 minutes. Released in 2007, it includes fully mounted America and Europe maps compatible with the original Age of Steam and Steam.

On the America map, the great expansion begins with government support for your locomotive. Every player starts with a powerful, free 6 train and never has to pay for it. However, competition is intense because the goods in demand across the country are limited, making every turn important to your plans.

• Each player may deliver only one good per turn.

The Europe map challenges you to develop a high-speed, highly efficient rail system across Western Europe. Its signature Express Links let each player build one route that costs twice as much as usual but provides two income when a good is shipped over it.

Europe also gives players direct influence over goods production. The player who chooses the Production Action determines which goods enter play; if nobody selects that action, no new goods are added to the board. This creates a distinct focus on managing the supply available for your rail network.

With two different settings and defining rulesets, Age of Steam Expansion: America / Europe offers contrasting approaches to building and operating a railroad. Choose America for scarce goods and a powerful starting locomotive, or Europe for Express Links and player-controlled production.
