Age of Steam Expansion: Mississippi Steamboats / Golden Spike is a 3–6-player expansion for Age of Steam with an approximately 120-minute play time, featuring two historical maps and distinct delivery challenges.

On the Mississippi Steamboats map, players compete across the great Mississippi River and the surrounding Midwest. Railroads work alongside steamboats, allowing goods to move quickly and efficiently through the region. Instead of urbanizing towns into cities, players use the Steamboat Building action to construct steamboats outside port cities.

• Delivering goods to a steamboat provides a 1 income bonus.
• Goods can be transported from and through steamboats.
• Steamboats move a set number of spaces up or down the river each turn.

The Golden Spike map recreates the 1860s Western United States, where the Union Pacific and Central Pacific railroads raced to complete the first transcontinental railroad. This four-player, team-dependent map focuses on delivering goods to cities along the main Sacramento–Promontory–Omaha route while building track toward Promontory.

Pre-printed hidden track tiles are revealed whenever a good is delivered to a city along the main route. The game ends on the turn that at least one team reaches Promontory. If only one team arrives, the opposing team’s score is reduced to zero; if both teams reach it, victory points are calculated in the usual manner.

Age of Steam Expansion: Mississippi Steamboats / Golden Spike is professionally designed, printed, and mounted on a double-sided gameboard, matching the presentation of the original Age of Steam map.
