Tang Garden: The Wayfarer is a board game experience for 1–4 players with a listed play time of 60 minutes, released in 2020.

The Wayfarer brings a distinctive character skill to the game. Once per turn, a player may go back one level of an element on their personal board to advance one level on another element. This creates a direct way to exchange progress between elements during play.

The ability has an important restriction: the Wayfarer cannot go back a level on an element when that element is on a bonus space. These bonus spaces include coins and character spaces, so players must consider the position of each element before using the skill.

The Wayfarer also has a special sight preference. Gain one coin for each decoration in the Wayfarer’s line of sight. Unlike a single-facing view, this line of sight is considered to extend in all four directions, connecting the character’s ability to every direction around them.

• Character skill: exchange one level of an element for progress on another element once per turn.
• Restriction: an element on a coin or character bonus space cannot be reduced.
• Sight preference: gain one coin for each decoration in line of sight across all four directions.

The Tang Garden: The Wayfarer set includes the miniature and colored base, the character card, and a storage tuckbox. These components provide the physical materials associated with the Wayfarer and make the character easy to identify during play.
