About this board game

Terracotta Army is a board game for 1–4 players, with a playing time of about 120 minutes, in which you help build a magnificent army of statues for Emperor Qin Shi Huang’s tomb.

The Emperor has passed away, and a great force of faithful warriors must be assembled to protect him in the afterlife. You take the role of a talented craftsman and artist, working alongside the other players to create this wondrous terracotta army.

Across five rounds, collect resources, upgrade your workers, and seek the favor of the Emperor’s advisors. You and your fellow players build the army together, placing warrior miniatures within the mausoleum and forming groups. A group can include miniatures belonging to multiple players, shown by the player bases on those miniatures, while several separate groups of the same miniature type may exist.

• Place warrior miniatures in the mausoleum to form groups.
• Seek favor with the Emperor’s advisors.
• Compete for victory points through domination and presence.

Scoring opportunities focus on the resources and statue types currently being scored. To achieve domination, you must be the only player with the most of the relevant resource or statue type. To have presence, you need at least one of the relevant resource or statue type.

Terracotta Army combines shared construction with direct competition for points. After the fifth round, the player with the most victory points wins and stands as the one who played the most crucial role in creating the Emperor’s army.
