About this board game
The Last Command is a space combat strategy game for 1–2 players, with sessions lasting about 60 minutes. Set among the Federation Remnant and the Sunder, it focuses on the close relationship between a starship and its crew.
At the heart of the game is an intuitive dual deckbuilding system. Build one deck of ship systems and another of crew members, then use your crew’s expertise to maximize your systems’ potential and provide the energy needed to power them.
Multiple system cards can be played into a ship location, but the topmost card may unlock a powerful end-of-turn bonus when crew with matching expertise are present in that system. This creates a constant need to coordinate your crew, manage your ship, and decide how far to push each location.
- Construct a ship system deck and a crew deck.
- Use worker placement and resource management to develop your ship.
- Match crew expertise with systems to access powerful bonuses.
- Choose when to push your systems and when to recall them.
Cards played to your ship remain in play until you try to draw from their respective deck while that deck is empty. Timing is therefore central to The Last Command: ambitious captains must balance immediate power against the moment when their carefully built systems need to be recalled.
Victory goes to the captain who can reduce the opposing ship’s hull strength to zero. Ready your crew, man all stations, and make the most of every system as you pursue glory and honor in this detail-oriented starship battle.
