About this board game
Tournay is a strategic card game for 2–4 players, with games lasting about 60 minutes, in which you rebuild a medieval city district and compete for prestige.
Manage the military, religious, and civil domains by directing citizens across a developing 3×3 display. Cards come in three colors and three levels, forming nine distinct decks. Buildings can save money, improve access to cards, recruit additional citizens, or provide other useful effects, while character cards reward thoughtful positioning and combinations.
Each turn, you may first add a card to your district by paying its cost. Then choose how to use your available citizens:
- Draw cards by sending citizens to a level I, II, or III deck, with the option to pay other players to use their workers.
- Activate a building by placing a citizen on it to gain coins, recruit citizens, or use other effects.
- Combat an event by paying its cost and taking the event card as a reward.
- Reactivate workers by returning your citizens to your Plaza and clearing building markers.
Three face-up event cards create ongoing pressure, and most events are harmful when triggered. Defeated events can later be played from your hand to protect you when trouble returns, adding another layer of timing to every decision.
Construct prestige buildings to score valuable points based on your district’s development, but remember that your opponents also benefit from each prestige building you create. The game ends when the required districts are complete or the Town Crier condition is met, followed by one final card play and scoring for displayed cards and defeated events.
