타케노코: 빅 박스 (Takenoko Big Box) is a board game for 2–4 players, with an approximately 45-minute playing time, in which players care for a giant panda and cultivate the Japanese Imperial garden.

A long time ago, the Chinese Emperor presented the Japanese Emperor with a giant panda as a symbol of peace. Now, the players serve as court members entrusted with the demanding task of maintaining the animal and its bamboo garden.

Players develop the garden by cultivating land plots, irrigating them, and growing bamboo with help from the Imperial gardener. Three bamboo species can grow in the garden: Green, Yellow, and Pink.

• Cultivate land plots and manage the growing garden.
• Irrigate the plots to support bamboo growth.
• Grow three species of bamboo: Green, Yellow, and Pink.
• Cope with the panda’s immoderate hunger for juicy, tender bamboo.

The panda is central to the challenge. While players work to grow bamboo, they must also feed the sacred animal and contend with its delicate appetite. Success comes from managing land plots effectively while producing plenty of bamboo and keeping the panda satisfied.

The player who manages their land plots best, grows the most bamboo, and meets the panda’s appetite wins. This Big Box edition also includes Takenoko: Chibis, bringing that expansion together with the base game in one release.

Released in 2020, Takenoko Big Box combines garden cultivation, irrigation, bamboo growth, and panda care in a colorful contest for the best-managed Imperial garden.
