About this board game

Chiefdom is a 2023 game for 1–6 players that takes about 30 minutes, challenging you to build the most prestigious chiefdom from an empty plan.

Each turn begins with a roll of the dice. You and the other players choose your actions simultaneously, using the rolled values to determine which icons to draw and how to place them. Every choice helps shape your developing domain.

Will you draw a lake or a forest? Will you provide your people with jobs such as fishing, woodcutting, or building? Your chiefdom must be more than impressive: it also needs to support the people who live there.

• Build your chiefdom from scratch by drawing and placing icons.
• Use dice values to guide your available choices each turn.
• Develop resources and jobs, including fishing, woodcutting, and building.
• Balance prestige with the need to keep your people fed, sheltered, and employed.

As chieftains from different tribes, you compete for recognition while developing your own plan. A successful chiefdom needs careful thought and balance, but the pursuit of prestige may also tempt you to take risks.

Throughout Chiefdom, tensions rise as players try to outmaneuver one another. Decide whether to pursue a bold path toward victory or aim for a steadier rise, then see whose chiefdom will be remembered as the most respected and successful.
