Ticket to Ride: Switzerland

About this expansion

Ticket to Ride: Switzerland is a 2–3 player expansion for Ticket to Ride or Ticket to Ride: Europe, with games lasting about 60 minutes. Released in 2007, it adds a new map, 46 destination cards, and a dedicated set of rules for a smaller player count.

This expansion requires the train pieces and train cards from one of the compatible original games. The Switzerland map and rules first appeared as an exclusive map for the Ticket to Ride computer game before being released for tabletop play.

The map introduces several features that distinguish it from other Ticket to Ride maps. Locomotive cards are used exclusively for tunnels, which function as they do in Ticket to Ride: Europe. This gives tunnel connections a specific role within the card system while retaining the tunnel rules familiar to players of that edition.

• Destination cards with endpoints inside Switzerland or in neighboring countries
• Destination cards for connections between adjacent countries
• Rules provided in several languages

Some destination cards end inside Switzerland, while others offer possible endpoints in adjacent countries. The value of a completed card is based on the farthest possible connection completed, creating a distinctive destination-card system for the map. Other cards specifically require connections between neighboring countries.

Although it is not officially sanctioned, Ticket to Ride: Switzerland also works with Ticket to Ride: Nordic Countries. It is not considered compatible with Ticket to Ride: Märklin because that game uses a different distribution of train cards.
