Descent: Journeys in the Dark (Second Edition) – Stewards of the Secret is a Hero and Monster Collection for 2–5 players, with an approximate play time of 120 minutes. Released in 2016, it adds four heroes, three monster types, and two new quests to the Descent experience.

Dark forces are searching for the secrets of an evil sorcerer, and only a handful of noble heroes can help the order of the Stewards protect its knowledge. Take up arms with Seer Kel and her fellow heroes, or reveal forbidden knowledge and call the ferrox to the overlord’s side.

Seer Kel brings an unusual tactical advantage to the heroes. Figures and obstacles never block her line of sight, allowing her attacks to find a path between bodies. Her heroic feat also lets her inspect the top five cards of the Overlord deck, place one on the bottom, then shuffle the rest back on top—offering a way to reduce the danger of an approaching threat.

The collection includes:

• Three blood apes
• Three nagas
• Four ferrox
• Two new quests

The ferrox are formidable servants of ancient sorcery. They strike hard in melee, spend surges to pierce heavy armor, and spread disease that can hinder heroes over successive turns. Their ability to sap an enemy’s strength and repair their own bodies gives them notable staying power.

A master ferrox can use Extract as an action against an adjacent hero. If that hero fails a might test, they suffer two fatigue while the ferrox recovers two damage. In Stewards of the Secret, fatigue can limit movement and the use of Class cards, making every encounter with these creatures dangerous.

Whether you defend the Stewards’ knowledge or seek the mad mage Devis’s secrets, this Descent collection adds new tactical tools and sinister threats to the campaign.
