About this expansion

Blue Moon: Emissaries & Inquisitors – Blessings is a 30-card expansion for two players, with a playing time of about 30 minutes. Released in 2005, it expands Reiner Knizia’s Blue Moon rather than functioning as a standalone deck.

Instead of replacing the existing decks, Blessings augments the other available decks by adding its new cards to them. The expansion introduces several distinct card types that affect play in different ways, from immediate responses to changes that matter at the end of the game.

  • Interference cards: React out of turn to an opponent’s plays.
  • Hyla: Influence the game as a whole.
  • Tutu: Add strength, but at a price.
  • Crystal cards: Affect the final score at the end of the game.

The Emissaries can be added to other decks as sold, bringing these 30 new cards into the mix. This gives players a way to incorporate the expansion’s new effects into the other available decks while retaining the core deck-based structure of Blue Moon.

For players who want to construct their own decks, the Inquisitors offer another change: they alter the deck-building limitations. This makes Blessings relevant both for players adding the cards to existing decks and for those interested in custom deck construction.

With out-of-turn interaction, game-wide influence, conditional strength, and end-game scoring effects, Blue Moon: Emissaries & Inquisitors – Blessings broadens the ways the Blue Moon card game can be played while remaining an expansion designed to work with its other decks.
