About this expansion

Croix de Guerre: ASL Module 10a is a two-player Advanced Squad Leader module with an approximate playing time of 120 minutes. It returns the French order of battle to print while adding the historical campaign Dinant: Rommel at the Meuse, set during the Meuse crossing in May 1940.

The module includes 41 ASL scenarios, combining the original eight Croix de Guerre scenarios, ten new Dinant scenarios, 22 previously out-of-print French scenarios revised for balance and clarity, and a bonus 1944 scenario set on the Dinant map. The campaign follows Erwin Rommel’s Panzer-Division 7 as it crosses the Meuse and moves through the Bois d’Ardennes, facing the exhausted 18th Infantry Division.

Dinant features two historical 22″ × 34″ map sections depicting narrow streets beside the Meuse, towering cliffs, and the plateau above. New terrain includes road tunnels, railroad embankment underpasses, 15th-century fortresses, weirs, and retaining walls. In the campaign game, German forces build pontoon bridges and assemble ferries for troops, tanks, and equipment while under fire.

  • 11 countersheets with French, Vichy French overseas colonial, Free French, and other French World War II counters
  • Two Dinant historical maps plus standard ASL geomorphic maps 42 and 43
  • French Chapter H historical notes and revised Chapter A pages
  • Chapter DN with Dinant HASL rules and a revised National Capabilities Chart

Unique counters distinguish Vichy French colonial forces and the Free French, including the Cross of Lorraine. With its expanded French forces, detailed historical notes, revised rules, and varied scenarios, Croix de Guerre offers a substantial showcase of French formations throughout World War II.
