Railroad Tiles: World Expansion

About this expansion

Railroad Tiles: World Expansion is a 2025 expansion for 1–4 players, with play taking around 30 minutes. It adds new Objective tiles and Special pawns to the railroad-building experience, and is the only expansion that can be mixed with both the core game and any other expansion.

The new Objectives work like those in the core game. At the start of play, choose 3 Objectives from the available roster. When a Placement token with a flag is revealed on the Station board, place the selected Objective to add a new scoring condition for the end of the game. For example, the Observatory must be placed in a column or row containing at least 6 tiles.

• New Objectives: Add more end-game scoring conditions to the selection available at the beginning of the game.
• Special pawns: Introduce distinctive rules for placing pawns and, in some cases, for determining their point value.
• Flexible compatibility: Combine the World Expansion with the core game or another expansion.

Each Special pawn is associated with one of the main types: Cars, Trains, or Travelers. The Bus, for example, is a special Car pawn, while the Mechanic is a special Traveler pawn that may be placed on a Train pinpoint as well as a regular Traveler pinpoint; placing it there earns 1 additional point.

Special pawns become available when the Placement token for their corresponding type appears. Before placing one, you must already have at least 2 pawns of the same kind on your network. They do not need to be connected to each other or to the Special pawn, although connection is usually better for your score. As a campaign reward, the World Expansion is included free with every pledge from the campaign.
