About this expansion

Railroad Tiles: Countryside Expansion is a 2025 expansion for 1–4 players, with games lasting about 30 minutes. It challenges you to create large Pastures filled with Animals of the same type.

During the draft phase at the beginning of each round, the Animal pawns you receive are tied to a specific column of tiles taken from the central board. Countryside tiles can introduce barns and fences, adding new considerations to the landscape you build.

Animals are placed on barns in the surrounding fields rather than on routes. Fields connected to one another form Pastures, while fences, highways, railways, and towns separate them. When you place an Animal, you immediately score 1 Prestige point, plus 1 point for each other Animal of the same type in that Pasture, up to a maximum of 5 Prestige points.

Some Countryside tiles also include blue buildings alongside a Barn. These Village tiles count as Town tiles when building Cities, but unlike Town tiles, they do not interrupt Pastures.

• Barns: Locations where Animal pawns are placed.
• Fences: Boundaries that separate connected fields into different Pastures.
• Village tiles: Buildings that count as Town tiles for Cities without interrupting Pastures.
• Objective tiles: Additional targets, including a Vineyard and Hills.

Objectives reward different landscape plans. For example, the Vineyard must be part of an area containing at least 5 connected Field tiles with no Animal pawns, while the Hills must have at least 3 Animals around them.

With its column-linked Animal draft, Pasture scoring, and varied Objectives, Railroad Tiles: Countryside Expansion adds a focused countryside-building challenge to the Railroad Tiles experience.
