About this expansion

D-Day Dice (Second Edition): Way to Hell is a World War II dice game for 1–6 players, with games lasting about 45 minutes. This box includes six Battle Maps and four independent mini-expansions that can be added individually or combined.

The centerpiece is Way to Hell, which introduces the Sea Battle Map. Instead of beginning on the beach, players take the roles of coxswains commanding landing craft through a perilous boat ride. They must avoid German artillery, sea mines, and beach obstacles while delivering their passengers safely to shore.

This opening voyage changes the rhythm of play. Landing craft begin with a full complement, but players roll each turn to determine what they lose rather than what they gain. Reach the beach before everyone is lost, then continue the game on land as the Units.

The box also provides several optional ways to expand the experience:

  • Gold Dice: Dice that can count as Red, White, or Blue, with their color determined during the Final Tally.
  • Special Missions: Random objectives that must be completed alongside the normal victory requirements, such as storming the bunker and surviving for one turn.
  • War Heroes: Twenty-five Specialist cards portraying real WWII heroes, each with a slightly stronger ability than the Specialist they replaces, plus a short biography.

Special Missions may require particular Items, Specialists, RWB bonuses, or Awards, while War Heroes represent Allied individuals from a wide range of countries and cultures. With familiar locations such as Juno Beach and Utah Beach alongside the new sea route, D-Day Dice (Second Edition): Way to Hell offers a flexible way to shape each landing operation.
