About this expansion

Barrage: The Far Companies is an expansion for 1–4 players, with a play time of approximately 120 minutes, that adds two new companies to the Barrage experience.

The expansion includes rules for the Japanese company and the Brazilian company. They are designed to stand apart from the standard companies through distinctive mechanics and components, joining the four base companies and the fifth company introduced in The Leeghwater Project expansion.

The Japanese company draws inspiration from earth-fill dams. Its Elevations can be used as if they were Bases, significantly increasing the number of Dams that can be built. However, these dams are limited in height and therefore in capacity. The company also uses Excavators instead of Concrete Mixers for its Elevations.

The Brazilian company focuses on versatility. Its Bases, Elevations, and Conduits can be built in any order from its board, offering a wider selection of strength and bonus types. The elements connected to stronger bonuses come with a permanent cost: the loss of one or more machinery.

  • Two new companies with distinct mechanics and components
  • A Japanese company built around earth-fill dam concepts
  • A Brazilian company offering flexible construction order and bonus choices
  • A special company ability for each company when its third powerhouse is built

Both companies unlock a special company ability when their third powerhouse is built. With its contrasting approaches to Dams, Elevations, Conduits, machinery, and bonuses, Barrage: The Far Companies expands the range of company systems available in the game.
