About this expansion

ASL Action Pack #9: To The Bridge! is an Advanced Squad Leader expansion for 2–4 players, with games lasting about 180 minutes. Designed for experienced players, it covers the Japanese invasion of Burma and the Allied defeat and retreat to India from December 1941 through February 1942.

This action pack includes ten scenarios set across Thailand and Burma. Japanese infantry face Commonwealth forces including Burma Rifles, Gurkha Rifles, an Indian Brigade, and various frontier units, with light armored cars and carriers providing support. One scenario features a Japanese seaborne assault against the Thai army, supported by the Pattani Provincial Police Force and military academy units.

The scenarios trace the campaign from the invasion of Thailand to the disaster at the Sittang bridge. Their playing times range from 5½ to 9½ turns, offering several tournament-length engagements and a varied selection of situations for ASL players.

• Optional Australian Balancing System provisions for every scenario
• Maps compatible with previous ASL mapboards

The optional Australian Balancing System allows players to select sides through escalating handicap bids. This can help balance scenarios between players of different ability levels while adding another decision before play begins.

ASL Action Pack #9: To The Bridge! is not a complete game and assumes ownership of the core Advanced Squad Leader system. Its new map configurations, historical settings, and focused Burma campaign make it a substantial companion for ASL enthusiasts, including players of the recently released Rising Sun.
