About this expansion

ASL Action Pack #14: ASL Oktoberfest XXXIV is a two-player collection of 12 tactical scenarios set during the battles in Normandy and Brittany in late spring and summer 1944.

The scenarios span the campaign from D-Day to the Falaise Pocket and the drive on Brest. American, British, and Canadian forces attack—and are counterattacked by—a broad range of German defenders, including primarily fallschirmjäger and elite SS forces.

Created by veteran designers Pete Shelling, Bill Sisler, and Ted Wilcox, the scenarios were developed with guidance from veteran playtesters and tournament directors Bret Hildebran and Bill Hayward. They present a wide variety of situations designed to test tactical knowledge and skill.

• Bocage appears frequently, alongside varied rural and village terrain.
• One scenario features a night paradrop.
• One scenario centers on an assault against a fortified gun battery.
• Several scenarios use combined arms on both sides, while others feature combined arms on only one side or infantry-only action.
• None of the scenarios uses offboard artillery.

The pack includes two new boards designed specifically for these scenarios. Board 84 presents a large hill mass beside a small village, with hedges, orchards, and scattered woods creating a claustrophobic rural setting. Board 12a/b features a larger village, stone buildings, and a board-length gully, along with orchards, grainfields, and hedges.

With artwork by Charlie Kibler and scenarios offering substantial tactical variety, ASL Action Pack #14: ASL Oktoberfest XXXIV provides a focused exploration of intense 1944 fighting for two players.
