About this expansion

Dominations: Silk Road is a 2022 expansion for 2–4 players, with a playing time of 120 minutes, that adds trade routes between Cities.

During the Construction phase, before building a City, a player may pay 3 resources to build a trade route to or from a City they control. The route is represented by a punchboard ring placed around the City. Each ring has two protruding branches, allowing Cities to connect in two directions and form a road-like chain.

Trade routes create new scoring and resource choices. When a City is connected to a trade route, its owner gains Victory Points equal to the number of other Cities included in that route. When a City is activated, the player receiving its resources may choose Knowledge matching that City’s colour or the colour of any City connected to the same trade route.

• Build routes: Spend 3 resources during Construction to connect a City.
• Score connections: Gain Victory Points based on the other Cities in the route.
• Share colour access: Connected Cities can use their own colour or the colour of another City on the same route for Mastery cards and other effects.
• Invite participation: Other players can connect to an existing trade route and earn points themselves.

Because more Cities may become connected as the game progresses, trade routes can offer increasingly valuable scoring opportunities. Their benefits are not limited to a single owner: in the spirit of commerce, any player with enough resources can join a route.

Dominations: Silk Road also includes a new array of Mastery cards built around the trade route mechanic, supporting ways to generate additional resources, Victory Points, Influence, and more.
