About this expansion

Onslaught to Orsha: Operation Bagration is a historical battle study for Advanced Squad Leader for 1–2 players, with an approximate play time of 180 minutes. It examines the opening of Operation Bagration along the Minsk–Moscow Highway and the Smolensk–Minsk Railroad in Belorussia on 23 June 1944.

The Soviet 16th Guards Rifle Division attacks as part of a heavily reinforced combined-arms force. Its support includes tank regiments, self-propelled artillery, towed artillery, and assault engineer-sapper units, while the German 78th Sturm Division defends a dense network of mines, trenches, bunkers, and rotating machine-gun bunkers.

Years of on-site research and extensive play testing by Heat of Battle’s veteran game designers provide the foundation for this focused historical treatment. The included scenarios explore the confrontation between prepared German defenses and the Soviet effort to create openings for deep armored penetrations.

  • A color 29 × 56-inch historical map with 1-inch hexes covering the Smolensk–Minsk Railroad area
  • Chapter OtO rules covering new units, terrain types, and vehicle notes
  • A campaign game, 22 scenarios, and 2 solitaire missions
  • A 17-page map study and order of battle
  • More than 180 new full-color counters for vehicles and weapons not seen in a tactical wargame system

Onslaught to Orsha presents a substantial ASL setting built around a specific operation, its opposing formations, and the terrain that shaped the battle. Its combination of historical research, varied scenarios, campaign play, and solitaire missions offers multiple ways to study this pivotal action.
