Age of Steam Expansion: The Zombie Apocalypse is a 3–5-player expansion for Age of Steam with an approximate play time of 120 minutes. Set during the age of industrialization, it brings rising dead, threatened cities, and increasingly difficult business conditions to the railroad landscape of the United States.

Iron roads stretch across Pennsylvania and Michigan, but something is stirring in the graveyards. As zombies rise and attack cities in growing numbers, end-of-year returns become increasingly paltry and competition grows stiffer. Train company owners must consider how to maintain profitability while the future of humanity appears uncertain.

The expansion includes two maps designed for different player counts:

• Western Pennsylvania: supports 4–5 players.
• Michigan: is tailored especially for 3 players.

Alongside the maps, the set includes a dedicated action/income/shares track and 30 plastic zombies. These zombie pieces are included through the generosity of Twilight Creations, Inc., which allowed their excellent plastic zombie bits to be reused.

Designed for experienced Age of Steam players, this expansion features very little randomness after the initial board setup. That emphasis places attention on the evolving challenge of running a railroad company amid a spreading zombie apocalypse, with the selected map determining the scale of the game.
