About this expansion

Conan: The Black Ones is a 2016 board game for 2–5 players with an approximately 60-minute play time, inspired by Robert E. Howard’s The Pool of the Black One.

Its setting centers on a dark green pool in the midst of a court, where a band of mysterious beings squats. These creatures are black and naked, shaped like men, yet so tall that even the smallest would tower head and shoulders above the pirate Conan.

The official description presents the black ones as rangy rather than massive, but finely formed. Their great height is their most obvious abnormality, while Conan senses a deeper diabolism in their features.

The game includes a compact collection of bilingual components, making it easy to identify the contents at a glance:

  • 6 tiles: 3 in French and 3 in English
  • 10 plastic miniatures

These tiles and miniatures bring the ominous imagery of the source passage to the tabletop, focusing attention on the court, the pool, and the towering figures gathered around it. The result is a concise Conan-themed release built around one of Robert E. Howard’s unsettling scenes.

With room for 2–5 players and a listed play time of 60 minutes, Conan: The Black Ones offers a focused tabletop experience for players drawn to Howard’s dark fantasy atmosphere and striking visual concepts.
