About this expansion

Cthulhu Wars: Tcho-Tcho is a faction expansion for 2–5 players, offering a distinctive 90-minute addition to the Cthulhu Wars experience. Released in 2017, it introduces the human-based Tcho-Tcho tribe: physically advanced, ethically repulsive, and adept at interfering with rival factions.

The Tcho-Tchos worship other players’ Great Old Ones to exploit their power, while their own Great Old One, Ubbo-Sathla, is treated as a tool and slave rather than an object of worship. This unusual relationship gives the faction a powerful early-game advantage, since you normally spend 0 Power on Ubbo-Sathla.

Unique among Cthulhu Wars factions, the Tcho-Tchos can recruit three high priests. Additional high priests provide the usual power-generation and pacing benefits, while the Hierophants and Martyrdom spellbooks build directly around this unusual strength. Martyrdom can make enemies reluctant to attack areas containing your high priests, helping compensate for the faction’s initially weak defenses.

  • Tablet of the Gods and Idolatry let the Tcho-Tchos leech off other factions.
  • Soulless makes your cultists less attractive to capture.
  • Proto-Shoggoths can help handle lesser enemy forces, particularly with the Terror spellbook.
  • Early Power can support capturing or building Gates, or placing units in enemy Start Areas to harass rival factions with Tablets of the Gods.

With its high-priest engine, indirect interference, and unusual approach to Great Old Ones, Cthulhu Wars: Tcho-Tcho offers a faction built around opportunism and pressure. Use its early advantage carefully, make rival worship work for you, and turn apparent vulnerability into a dangerous deterrent.
