About this expansion

Eclipse: Elders of the Solstice is a print-and-play expansion for 2–6 players, with an approximate play time of 120 minutes. Released as a 2011 Holiday Special, it introduces a mysterious new race to the Eclipse universe.

Ancient fragments of Galactic history speak of the Elders of the Solstice, who emerge when the days are short. According to the stories, they bring light and joy to the righteous while smiting the wicked. Their return comes as the shadows of great civilizations fall and the times grow dark.

The expansion adds a distinctive special dreadnought to the Elders. This vessel flies around the galaxy, bringing gifts to other players and giving the Elders a memorable presence on the board.

  • A new race: the Elders of the Solstice
  • A special dreadnought that travels through the galaxy
  • Gift-giving interactions with other players
  • A penalty for attacking the Elders

Other players who attack the Elders are declared Naughty. Being Naughty carries a direct end-game consequence: the offending player receives -2 points at the end of the game.

Eclipse: Elders of the Solstice adds a playful holiday theme to the galaxy-spanning setting while introducing a clear risk for those who challenge its ancient visitors. As a compact print-and-play expansion, it brings a new race, a roaming dreadnought, and a memorable scoring penalty to the table.
