About this expansion

Escape: The Curse of the Temple – Queenie 4: The Fountain is a mini-expansion for the Escape base game for 1–5 players, with a play time of 10 minutes.

The fountain tile is shuffled together with the other tiles at the start of the game. When a player is on the fountain tile and rolls two golden masks, she recovers one of her lost dice. Each player can use the fountain to recover only one lost die during the game.

This expansion also adds a new pair of curse tiles, with two copies of each curse. These tiles introduce additional effects that can change how players manage their dice during the escape.

  • Poison: When the first or second countdown ends, you lose one die, even if you have returned to the starting chamber. If you are not in the starting chamber, you lose two dice instead of one.
  • Strangle Vines: You must reroll dice showing the adventurer, rather than keeping them while rerolling your other dice.

The Fountain can be played on its own or combined with any other expansions for the game. Its recovery opportunity offers a limited way to reclaim a lost die, while the new curses add sharply different pressures: Poison punishes players based on their location at the countdown, and Strangle Vines restricts which dice can be retained during a reroll.

With its fountain tile and four curse tiles, Escape: The Curse of the Temple – Queenie 4: The Fountain expands the base game with focused new rules and challenging effects while remaining compatible with other expansions.
