K2: The Avalanche is a 2012 expansion for K2 for 1–5 players, with a play time of 60 minutes. This small expansion introduces new bad-weather conditions and an additional avalanche rule.
The expansion contains four new weather tiles, each describing difficult weather conditions. These tiles bring a new environmental challenge to the mountain and add variety to the conditions faced during play.

- A movement effect for climbers who are not hidden in their tents
When the avalanche comes down, the new icon indicates the affected day. All climbers who are not hidden in their tents that day must move one space farther from the mountain peak.
This rule makes shelter an important consideration whenever the avalanche is approaching. Climbers exposed on the mountain are pushed back, while those hidden in their tents avoid this specific movement effect.
K2: The Avalanche is designed as a compact addition to K2, focusing on weather and the threat of an avalanche rather than introducing a separate game. Its four tiles and clearly marked avalanche icon provide a straightforward way to add more dangerous conditions to a 60-minute game for one to five players.
