About this expansion

Lock ‘n Load: A Ring of Hills is a two-player tactical wargame about the ground combat between British and Argentine forces during the 1982 Falklands War, with games lasting around 120 minutes.

This expansion to Band of Heroes brings the bleak, windswept battlefields of the South Atlantic to the Lock ‘n Load Tactical Gaming System. Its 12 scenarios cover historical engagements ranging from the fighting at Goose Green and Darwin Hill to the commando raid on Top Malo House.

The scenarios also depict the struggle for the outer and inner Ring of Hills west of Stanley, including battles at Two Sisters, Mount Longdon, Wireless Ridge, Mount Tumbledown and Mount William. Other scenarios feature the initial seizure of Stanley, the capture of South Georgia and a battle involving the Argentine corvette Guerrico.

  • 12 scenarios covering historical and what-if engagements
  • 5 geomorphic maps and 170 counters
  • Module-specific rules and a player-aid card
  • British Paras, Royal Marines and Gurkhas facing Argentine Conscripts, Marines and Amphibious Commandos
  • Harrier and Pucara strikes, artillery and the first ship featured in Lock ‘n Load

Two what-if scenarios expand the campaign beyond the historical battles: an opposed British landing at San Carlos and a last-ditch fight on the outskirts of Stanley. Together, they offer a varied selection of Falklands War situations within a compact tactical format.

Lock ‘n Load: A Ring of Hills is no longer available as a standalone edition. A new, improved and expanded version can be found in Lock ‘n Load Tactical: Heroes of the Falklands.
