Terraforming Mars: Utopia Planitia – Big Board Edition is a fan-made Terraforming Mars board for 1–5 players, released in 2022. It offers a distinctive map with five milestones and five awards, available in Neoprene and Cardboard versions.

The Neoprene version features milestones that reward varied achievements. Become a Specialist by having three special tiles, a Pioneer with three colonies, or a Trader with at least three different nonstandard resources. The Metallurgist milestone requires a combined steel and titanium production of at least five, while the Researcher milestone requires four science tags.

Its awards recognize different forms of development across the board. The Suburbian award goes to the player with the most tiles on the board’s rim, while the Investor has the most Earth tags. Botanist rewards the highest plant production, Incorporator the most project cards played with a cost of 10 MC or less, and Metropolist the most cities.

The Cardboard version is the version rebalanced by Fryxgames and is available as a double-sided map in the Utopia & Cimmeria Expansion. It adjusts several requirements while retaining the same overall set of milestone and award categories.

In the Cardboard version, the Manager requires three special tiles in play, Pioneer requires three colonies in play, and Trader requires three different resource types on cards. Different kinds of microbes count as one resource type. Metallurgist requires six combined steel and titanium production, while Researcher still requires four science tags.

For its awards, the Cardboard map uses tiles along the border, Earth tags, plant production, cards costing 10 M€ or less, and city tiles. Terraforming Mars: Utopia Planitia – Big Board Edition gives players two closely related map editions with clearly differentiated scoring goals.
